Current Research Interests

Environmental Economics: My work is concerned with using optimisation techniques to address issues of socially optimal environmental policy in the presence of stock externalities and depletable environmental resources. In particular, I address this question with regard to the greenhouse effect. Publications have also included reviews of the economic theory of global environmental policy, and the relationship between sustainability, growth and economic development. Much of this work is done jointly with Dr Yue Ma. Research has also included analysis of the potential economic impacts on Scotland of climate change.

Econometrics: Principal focus is on the use of cointegration techniques in time series analysis. This is currently being applied to exchange rate determination and to unemployment analysis. Econometric modelling of the exchange rate determination and integration of economies. This is a project I have recently begun with Dr Yue Ma at Stirling University.
